You may or may not remember back in the day, when the ninja turtles were on top of the world, that they released a full length album of original music, and proceeded to go on tour to promote it. This was the "coming out of their shells" tour. I don't think I'm being overzealous here when I say that this is the Greatest Album Ever. Here it is in complete form, downloadable as handy mp3s. A bigass ham goes out to RoofPig, cause if it weren't for his owning a tape of this album, resurrecting it by transplanting it from a broken tape to a good one, and then mp3ing the whole damn thing, the world could not enjoy these masterpieces. He is truly an American hero, along the lines of Abraham Lincoln and Buzz Aldrin.
An Inspiring soft rock ballad, encouraging you to "Sing about it/If you're happy or sad/In good times or bad/You know you don't need a drum/your heart is where the music's coming from"
"Now word up!/I got a story to tell!" begins this groovin song. "Walk Straight/No need to mutate" okay? (I'm pretty sure this is a song about resisting peer pressure)
A dope-ass rap layed down by Michaelangelo that runs down all the turtles, and their traits. "Yo, theres Donatello/Even for a turtle/He's Mellow" you said it Mike!
Surf rock style song about surfing in the sewer. I was originally confused by the fact that there are no waves in the sewer, but just assumed that this was ignored for the benefits of the song. I later realized that the song is referring to skateboarding, which is also known as "sidewalk surfing," and not actual surfboarding. "You don't have to wait for high tide/when you're surfin on the sewer side"
The title track from the album explores why the Ninja Turtles suddenly became musically inclined. See, it wasn't that merchandisers wanted a new way to make money, it was because "When the music is inside of you/You know one day its got to come through." Those zany turtles!
The chorus to this song goes "No treaties/After the war!" from what I can gather, its about them fighting Shredder. Either that, or its an anti-peace song.
Another song that sounds like its a David Bowie song from labrynth. Maybe theres a connection. In any case, april, apparently captured, sings about how she can count on the turtles and they're coming to save her and stuff.
The turtles sing to April about how she can count on them. Goes with April's Ballad, only more rockin' and sung by the turtles. "Shredder get ready 'cause you're goin down/Lookout because the turtles/Are in town!"
From the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles original motion picture soundtrack.
Excellent rap tune, running through the plot of the movie. Although with one glaring error. Raphael is referred to as "the leader of group" and as any fan of the cartoon is aware, it was Leonardo. However, this is a very convoluted issue if we take into account all the factors involved, and this isn't really a mistake. all in all, a great song.
Splinter himself gives us the thrilling origin of our favorite Heroes in a Half Shell, set to appropriate music. This will bring a tear of nostalgia to your eye, even as you become thoroughly engaged in Splinters tale of betrayal and deceit in modern day Japan, and his subsequent arrival in New York and contact with the turtles. Enjoy!
You know it, you love it, its Vanilla Ice's seminal masterpiece, Ninja Rap. This is without a doubt the most widely known TMNT related song, and Secret Spain is proud to present it to you, commercial free. RoofPig dug this up somewhere, so grovel at his feet, you peons. Also, enjoy.
